On Monday 15th June 2015 Grolime members participated in a lime technical training day which was delivered by Teagasc experts at the Johnstown Castle Research Centre in Co Wexford.  The day long course included lectures on national soil fertility levels, the soils of Ireland, soil chemistry and lime, liming advice for grassland and tillage crops.  In addition there was a visit to the soil testing laboratories where there were presentations on soil sampling processing, soil ph and smp tests, soil ph kits, soil profile descriptions and the inter rotation of soil reports. In addition there was a presentation from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine on lime quality and current and new legislation.

The objective of the technical training day was to ensure that Grolime producers’ representatives are suitably trained and up to date with all of the advice necessary to assist their farmer customers in achieving the maximum benefits from applying lime to their land.
