There was a full house in Portlaoise on September 4th when Grolime members participated in a lime technical training seminar, which was delivered by Teagasc experts Mark Plunkett and Dr David Wall.

The topics discussed at the seminar included lectures on national soil fertility levels, the return on investment from lime, soil testing, the soil testing results on the Teagasc soils database, the role of lime in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and nitrogen use efficiency.

The objective of the technical training day was to ensure that Grolime producers’ representatives are suitably trained and up to date with all of the advice necessary to assist their farmer customers in achieving the maximum benefits from applying lime to their land.
